The Role:

Sojern is looking for a dynamic Senior Revenue Accountant to add to our accounting team. We are a rapidly growing company, and we want you to be part of this amazing growth and expansion. We are looking for a team member that will support the revenue recognition process and participate in automation efforts. This position is located in Omaha and reports to the Manager of Revenue Accounting.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Strong ability to research and interpret U.S. GAAP and assist in ensuring proper compliance with the ASC 606 revenue recognition standard.

  • Post and review ledger activities during month-end close, including contract review, monthly/quarterly journal entries, and month-end checklists based on finance requirements. Support cross functional teams with ad hoc requests. 

  • Collaborates on new product offerings to ensure proper accounting standards are followed.

  • Review contracts to identify accounting issues and to monitor compliance with revenue recognition policies.

  • Responsible for ensuring accurate revenue recognition globally.

  • Becomes a subject-matter expert on all technologies and systems impacting the sales, billing, and collections process, including but not limited to, NetSuite and SalesForce. 

  • Understand business drivers and their effect on financial results to ensure business changes are accurately reflected in the financial statements.

  • Analyze revenue trends and support forecasting with commentary on actual results.

  • Identify opportunities and implement programs to centralize, eliminate, or automate activities. 

  • Assist in the effort to provide guidance/training with groups outside of the accounting team, including legal, sales, and finance to ensure all sources of revenue are properly reviewed for accounting purposes and processed on a timely basis.

  • Work through accounting implications and confirm we can operationally support business agreements. Provide accounting guidance to sales, product, account management, and other cross functional teams. 


What you bring to the table:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, with a major in accounting, finance, or relevant field.

  • 4+ years of relevant experience

  • CPA preferred 

  • Big 4 or Internal Audit experience valued

  • Understanding of billing and revenue processes and experience using general ledger software

  • Critical thinking, with a strategic approach to problem solving

  • Outstanding MS Excel skills

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • An extremely high sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

  • Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting and problem-solving

  • The ability to manage multiple competing priorities and to constantly re-prioritize

  • Attention to details in a complex process

  • An outstanding focus on achieving a high level of customer service

  • Enjoyment of dynamic and fast-moving environment
