Business Analyst II- University Relations

Under supervision of the Director of Advancement Services, the Business and Reporting Analyst works with University Relations and campus-wide staff to understand their business needs and how the Alumni and Donor database, correlated systems and reports can be utilized to support their informational needs. S/he will elicit and synthesize reporting and business process requirements, working with peers within Advancement Services and/or the DoIT support staff to implement practical solutions to identified and prioritized business needs.

This position is responsible for building and maintaining the data reporting and analysis infrastructure, including the creation and/or maintenance of system documentation such as a report catalogue, business process and business rule repositories, end-user training guides, and report requests. With this as a foundation, the person in this position will design dashboards and reports, promoting tools that support ad-hoc analysis, conduct data mining and auditing, and interpret data to provide insights and business guidance to end users. The Business and Reporting Analyst will also review existing reports and proposed database changes to ensure the data presented in dashboards and reports is accurate based on standardized programming logic and business rules, policies and procedures. They will collaborate with the UR Technical Writer and Trainer to develop training materials for new and established reports and business process-related database features, and may help to deliver training to peers and end users. They will also collaborate to deliver reports and other key business information in new and innovative ways, using Power BI, SSRS and the Microsoft Power Platform.

This individual plays a key role in coordinating the Advancement Services team's projects, including ongoing configuration of Advance Web, and in maintaining excellent customer relations between UR, DoIT and other university departments. In addition, they will serve as the lead person for managing the reporting environment and will be the lead person for all Creighton Fund (i.e. mass solicitation) requests. A strong skill set will include project management in a database and technology environment, as well as Business Analysis and SQL coding experience.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or a related field of study) or equivalent work experience
Two to Four years of business analysis and report/dashboard development experience, with fluency in standard BA practices
Excellent customer service, analytical and project management skills; detail-oriented with a strong quality-assurance mindset
Experience writing business use cases and requirements, with the ability to translate needs and requirements between technical and non-technical staff
Expertise with Microsoft Office suite (including Office 365 and SharePoint Online), with advanced experience using Excel; experience developing in the Microsoft Power Platform is a plus
Strong experience with report development and reporting tools (SSRS, SSAS, Git and Power BI experience a plus), and relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server); understanding of database development, data mining and analysis

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with a donor and/or prospect management database in higher education, specifically fundraising and alumni relations is highly desirable
Experience in developing SQL functions, stored procedures, packages, etc., particularly in the context of SSRS and/or Power BI is highly desirable
Experience in fundraising and alumni engagement practices, strategies, and industry standards is strongly preferred
Experience working with Ellucian's Advance Web is desirable
