    As a Payroll Specialist, you will address matters relating to the processing of payroll such as administering off-cycles, stop payment requests, direct deposit reversals and interact with field personnel to provide the highest level of customer service. 

    The Payroll Processing Specialist is part of the KBS Payroll Services group.  The Payroll Processing Department is responsible for the functions associated with weekly payroll for the company, including US, Canada and Australia.  
    The Payroll Specialist will address matters relating to the processing of payroll such as administering off-cycles, stop payment requests, direct deposit reversals and interacting with field personnel to provide the highest level of customer service.

    Position Location
    This is a shared services environment in Kiewit Business Center, a professional office setting in Omaha, NE

    -    Process the weekly payrolls (Monday and Tuesday evenings, and Thursday afternoon)
    -    Pay Card Administration; Pay Check and Direct Deposit reversals; Direct Deposit Rejection research and processing; Stop Payment requests
    -    Remote payroll printer assignments
    -    Military pay
    -    Off-cycle processing
    -    Severance Pay, Settlements
    -    Validate direct deposit files to bank
    -    Maintain overhead employee payroll information
    -    Manage outstanding payroll checks
    -    Payroll system steward; responsible for setting the weekly payroll calendars
    -    Create journal entries, as needed
    -    Field phone calls and emails from field operations and support/guide with payroll knowledge
    -    Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external Kiewit departments; understands Kiewit's core business and promote a sense of urgency toward business critical issues
    -    Follow processes, procedures and internal controls
    -    Communicate and collaborate with team members to achieve excellence in Payroll Processing
    -    Reliable and consistent attendance
    -    Support and participate in collaboration activities to promote and implement continuous process improvement
    -    Perform other job related tasks as needed or assigned

    -    Working knowledge of computers and experience in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
    -    Attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies and thoroughness in completing tasks
    -    Self-awareness and initiative; open to new ideas; ability to adapt to changes in a fast paced environment
    -    Excellent oral and written communication skills
    -    Apply discretion and maintain confidentiality 
    -    Ability to develop and execute effective accounting and payroll practices
    -    Able to operate at both the strategic and tactical level
    -    Ability to analyze information and use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
    -    Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
    -    Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work
    -    Ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel while simultaneously managing a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively
    -    Ability to lift, sit, stoop, reach, climb stairs, etc. 
    -    ability to reading from a computer or laptop monitor for several hours including fonts of various sizes from a variety of sources
    -    Payroll experience preferred
    -    Some accounting knowledge preferred
    -    SAP background preferred
    -    Travel as needed, <5%
