Position Overview

The Payroll Analyst position is part of the Kiewit Business Services Payroll Processing department within the Payroll group. We are looking for a Payroll Analyst with an anticipated starting date of August 1, 2020. As the Paroll Analyst you will be the liaison and point of contact for Kiewit's US and International districts and projects. You will advise on a variety of accounting and payroll functions including but not limited to: cost moves, reporting, monitoring overpayments, payroll claims, PTO accruals and pre/post payroll audits. Responsibilities also include analyzing information and providing answers and solutions to questions from corporate personnel and Kiewit job sites.

Kiewit Business Services (KBS) is a cross-functional shared service organization that provides the business units with customer-specific services focused on cost and business value.   Our services include non-core, yet essential, functions of our businesses including accounts payable, accounts receivable, change control, human capital management, payroll, project initiation, compliance and continuous improvement.


This position is based out of our Kiewit Business Center at 12720 I Street. This is a shared service center in a professional office setting. 

  • Pro-actively identify interface issues and determine effective business solutions to resolve issues
  • Partner with Senior Leadership to update and implement improved payroll procedures
  • Assist with special projects
  • Prepare and analyze accruals
  • Prepare accounting entries to allocate Job Costs
  • Prepare bonus runs and process third party sick pay
  • Assist with Internal and External Audit requests
  • Pro-active in responding to internal and external inquiries from employees, Internal Audit, External Audit, etc.
  • Partner closely with Human Resources to ensure that payroll practices are in conformance with employment and benefit practices
  • Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external Kiewit departments; understands Kiewit's core business and promote a sense of urgency toward business critical issues
  • Correspond with third party consultants
  • Practice the highest level of discretion and confidentiality

  • Working knowledge of computers; proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Mastery of basic Accounting functions; general payroll tax knowledge
  • Ability to develop and execute effective accounting and payroll practices

  • Highly motivated and self-directed; initiative and a sense of urgency to get things done

  • Ability to travel as needed, < 5%, must hold valid US Passport (if traveling to Canada, Australia, etc.)
  • Ability to lift, sit, stoop, bend, reach, climb stairs, etc. 
  • Ability to read from a computer or laptop monitor for several hours including fonts of various sizes from a variety of sources
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration or similar field preferred
  • SAP background preferred
  • Payroll experience preferred
