Lamp Rynearson, an ENR Top 500 Design Firm, is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Controller.  This individual will direct our critical business processes including financial reporting, accounting practices and operations (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll), financial plans and policies, job costing, and risk management.  As a 100% employee owned civil engineering, survey, planning, and consulting firm with four Midwest and Front-Range locations, we maintain a solid reputation with our clients, projects, and within our industry.  Learn more about us at
Essential Job Duties:
  • Supervises, directs and coaches the accounting staff.
  • Prepares financial analyses of operations including interim and year-end financial statements with supporting schedules.
  • Prepares financial projections for proposed business operations with input from management. 
  • Prepares annual budget.
  • Performs tax planning and ensures compliance with all federal, state, local, corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes. 
  • Acts as liaison for external audit firm and prepares audit work papers.
  • Assists with the valuation of the Employee Benefit Plan (ESOP).
  • Prepares the Worker’s Compensation Insurance audit as requested by Insurance Company. 
  • Assist and/or lead various risk management functions including assembling data for the Professional Liability Insurance application process. 
  • Evaluates operating processes and make recommendations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to find efficiencies though the use of technology and staying current on the latest technology
Candidate must be self-motivated with strong financial analyses and problem-solving skills.  Candidate should possess the ability to work and communicate with staff of all levels.  A degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent working experience is required.  A minimum of 7-12 years of increasing accounting responsibility with experience in the duties of Controller or similar position.  CPA licensure or Masters’ Degree desired, but not required.   The ideal candidate will have a desire for future progression and advancement with our Firm as well as an entrepreneurial spirit that sees opportunity for ownership.
