Product Development Manager

The Product Development Manager participates in a team environment for the delivery and maintenance of application systems.  Generally responsible for managing team s to make sure deadlines are being met and personnel issues are handled.  These positions provide interpersonal and administrative skills in performing day to day work.  A career path within the different levels is clearly defined to help support professional development.


Job Tasks

  • Work effectively within a team environment, and should be a highly motivated self-starter who is always looking for ways to improve the product.
  • Familiar with core technologies and methodologies used by the team.
  • Must possess good communication skills, both verbal and written, and effective organization skills.
  • Must have excellent communication abilities in order to lead a group of professionals in meeting all company objectives.
  • Works with team members to develop goals and development plans.  Deals with personnel issues for team and works with other managers to resolve issues.
  • Set goals for their team, and to assign work to the employees most suited for specific positions.
  • Must be able to resolve conflicts among teams or team members.
  • Must be able to do performance evaluations to give fair assessment of their team members.
  • Participate in meetings for business requirements and technical design discussions
  • Be able to take on tasks for team members taking PTO.
  • Work with various teams to gather requirements, build user stories, create story boards and develop business cases for projects.
  • Manages and coordinates product development projects.
  • Evaluates and resolves technical feasibility, design optimization, and production issues.
  • Researches and monitors existing client base and industry developments and identifies potential new product opportunities.
  • Works with other departments to establish a design, technology, product development, and vendor strategy.


Education, Certifications & Experience

Minimum Education/Certifications: 

  • Degree in Business, MIS or related field, or equivalent work experience.


Preferred Education/Certifications:

  • Degree in Business, MIS or related field


Minimum Experience: 

  • Product Development Manager 2-5 years’ experience in a Management Role for Product Development
  • Senior Product Development Manager 5-7 years’ experience in a Management Role for Product Development


Preferred Experience

  • Experience with managing people in a client facility web development environment
