The Arbor Day Foundation is seeking someone to oversee all aspects of marketing communications, Director of Marketing Communications.  Our ideal candidate is a professional who brings the diversity of experience in marketing and communications that can support the growth and public awareness of the Arbor Day Foundation.  Critical to this role will be the ability to collaborate with and/or lead teams who are responsible for creative services, marketing plan development, content creation, public relations and social media.   We seek a persuasive individual with the talent to passionately communicate how our programs are helping to solve complex, global issues while having a positive impact on people, communities, and the environment.


  • Provide vision level thinking and direction around communications and marketing. 
  • Create innovative campaigns to drive awareness, engagement, selling and fundraising.
  • Collaborate with internal customers and the marketing team to create effective marketing strategies from concepts through execution and measurement.
  • Work with internal customers to identify target audiences and create/implement engagement strategies.
  • Work with marketing team to initiate public relations and publicity strategies and to appropriately respond to relevant news.
  • Oversee social media content, calendars and activity to drive awareness and engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal customers and the marketing team to develop effective content for all marketing channels -- print, web, video, social media, and broadcast.
  • Lead, develop and collaborate with team members responsible for varying disciplines including creative services, campaign development, content, public relations and social media.
  • Research emerging technology and marketing best practices and oversee adoption as appropriate.
  • Drive and manage the growth of the Arbor Day Foundation brand.


  • A passion for the Foundation's mission, nature, environmental stewardship, and people.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, engaged team member and high degree of professionalism.
  • Executive level or 15 years of successful marketing communications experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field.
