Position Summary:

As the Global Payroll and Equity Administration Manager, you will be responsible for managing global payroll and equity administration for Sojern’s approximately 300 employees located in 14 countries across the globe. We are looking for an individual who can take our compensation function to the next level in a fast-paced environment. This role is a mix of both hands-on and collaborative work, and will oversee the administration of our salary, bonus, commission and equity incentive plans, and also provide advice on compensation structure and policy and guideline interpretation. 

You will play a critical role in ensuring that the company’s greatest resource, our People, are compensated timely and accurately.  The necessity to effectively manage competing deadlines with the utmost professionalism, flexibility and discretion is crucial. This is a highly visible position, requiring effective and professional interaction with all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will be an integral team player with our People Ops, Finance and business leaders to identify and resolve global compensation opportunities and issues. 

About the Role:

  • Overall processing and analysis for global payroll operations and related activities that ensure compliance with U.S. and international jurisdictions. 

  • Manage equity compensation program including grants, exercises, terminations and monthly reporting. 

  • Manage commission program for the commercial organization.

  • Manages the development, implementation and maintenance of compensation programs to support business needs, including competitive analysis, internal impact analysis, cost projections, implementation strategies, and communication with PeopleOps.

  • Design compensation plans including benchmarking against similar organizations. 

  • Ensure proper review processes are in place for payroll output from payroll vendors and that all inputs are accurately captured. Includes, but not limited to, performing payroll analysis, monthly accounting close activities, account maintenance and reconciliations, financial reporting and variance analysis. 

  • Ensure payroll transactions are processed correctly for time, earnings, benefits, deductions, taxes, garnishments and other items that affect pay and/or company liability. Ensure accurate deductions are processed (401k, Commuter, Health & Life Benefits, FSA/Dep Care, Imputed Income).

  • Review all payroll reporting to ensure accurate and timely filing with appropriate government authorities. Support external financial audits. Manage any payroll related audits e.g. 401(k), worker’s compensation, etc. 

  • Develop, document and implement payroll processes, policies and procedures to ensure proper internal controls, efficiency and a great employee experience.

  • Record accurate transactions in the general ledger pertaining to payroll, payroll taxes, and employee benefits, including preparation of all journal entries.

  • Research, resolve, and communicate complex payroll issues.

  • Provide exceptional customer service while responding to inquiries from employees.

  • Collaborate with PEO (Professional Employer Organization) on reviewing and approving monthly payroll process/payments and queries

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, with a major in accounting, business administration, finance, human resources, or relevant field.

  • 5+ years of related experience in sales compensation, accounting, or finance operations

  • 2+ years management experience

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills needed to interface effectively with all levels of the organization. 

  • US payroll experience required

  • Superb attention to details and strong time management skill

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role with in-depth payroll processing knowledge, and 6 + years of experience in a global organization desired.

  • Advanced level experience with payroll system (Paylocity experience desired) and advanced excel knowledge. 

  • Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system.

  • Thorough knowledge of payroll-related country, state, legal, tax and compliance requirements. 

  • In-depth knowledge of payroll and employee tax laws, as well as state and country level legislation and regulation across the U.S., Mexico, Europe, Middle-East, and Asia Pacific.
