At FNBO, we realize data plays a critical role in almost every component of our business strategy and our technology strategy. As such, we are expanding our data program, and we are looking for a leader to introduce and mature Data Operations (DataOps) as a core capability within our data ecosystem.

In this role, you will provide leadership for teams accountable for managing access, movement, and consumption of operational data (Cloud or on Premise). Your teams will be responsible for all operational aspects of database technologies to ensure a responsive, available, reliable, and secure environment. This would include maintenance of jobs, data movement, data retention, business continuity planning, and Data Architecture with a focus on resiliency. Additionally, you and your team will focus on; optimization of our data structures, data movement, and creating a plan for the cloud, including migration to database as a service (DBaaS). Partner with the business and IT stakeholders to sure that your team is proactively meeting business needs. You are responsible for working closely with solution architects and tech leads to create development plans for your team members to ensure they continue to grow and expand their skills to meet our cloud first data strategy.



In addition to the technical aspects of your core domain, you will also provide guidance and leadership in creating and managing budgets, policies, and procedures to support the data technologies, including vendor management. You will be responsible for measuring and reporting on progress against key performance metrics to leadership.

Job Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities:  

  • Change Management mindset - to bring DataOps to life leveraging techniques from Agile Application development 

  • Development and ownership of an 18 - 24 month strategy and roadmap for Data Operations  

  • Provide leadership in the architecture, implementation, and administration of the on-premise SQL, Oracle and DB2 database environment, with a plan to migrate to DBaaS and simplify and streamline processes.  This will require close partnership and influence with Application owners to develop cooperative migration plans 

  • Responsible for managing existing cloud database services in AWS 

  • Responsible for data movement and optimizing our practices with new technologies 

  • Ability to demonstrate and communicate technical best practices related to Data Operations 

  • Champion the culture of automation within the database administration and daily practices

Optimization  

  • Responsible for establishing and reporting on goals, strategies, key performance metrics, and plans necessary to execute the strategy and to maximize the value of technology. 

  • Determine, manage, and forecast resource needs and availability.  

  • Build talent development plans around emerging technologies to enable our teams to continuously improve, automate and make room to elevate their work 

  • Ensure that budget expenses are regularly tracked, operational expenses are minimized, and capital investments and platforms are utilized effectively and efficiently. 

Customer Focus 

  • Ensure that day to day operational needs and projects are equally met to timely serve the current and future needs of our teammates and customers  

  • Understands and anticipates needs and takes action to provide high quality products and services to exceed their expectations 

Collaborative  

  • Works in partnership with others across the organization to accomplish goals 

  • Responsible for building strong relationships and collaborative partnerships within the organization to understand the business opportunities and challenges.

  • Self-Starter, recognizes what needs to be done and acts 

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices for comparison to current enterprise state to identify opportunities for improvement.  

Developing Talent 

  • Establish a positive and collaborative team environment that inspires creative, high performing, continuous learning, and engaged team members. 

  • Develop team members through coaching, training and development, opportunities, and on-going performance feedback, including timely follow-up on individual development plans; counsel team members on performance issues. 

  • Responsible for attracting, selecting, and on-boarding a diverse and qualified team and determining the appropriate team resource requirements to meet the strategic direction. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 7+ years' technical experience managing and maintaining extensive, complex technology services, including cloud integrations.  
  • Technical experience working with data as an asset in software development or database administration.  
  • 5+ years of IT leadership and management experience.
  • Certifications such as MCSE, AWS, Oracle Certified Professional preferred.
