Analyst - QA

The Analyst - QA will work within a cross-functional team to develop our software according to priorities and specifications. Testing will include both manual and automated testing of our products. Technical writing will include creating, reviewing, and editing supporting documentation and preparing documentation for deployment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. The analyst will operate as part of a cross-functional Agile team.
  2. The team will meet daily to decide the highest priority work/tasks and complete working, tested, and production quality software before moving on to additional work.
  3. Collaborate with team to decompose features into small pieces of working software that can be completed in a single iteration.
  4. Analyze acceptance criteria to create test cases for unit, integration, and acceptance tests.
  5. Design and write clear, concise test plans to verify whether software applications and systems meet functional requirements, design specifications, and performance goals for users. Test plans may be used for manual and/or automated testing.
  6. Execute test plans and analyze test results to identify defects and configuration issues. Proactively communicate defects/issues to team members including recommendations for correcting the issues. Work with team to resolve defects/issues.
  7. Work with external load, performance, and regression testing teams to provide required input to execute respective tests.
  8. Write supporting documentation for the software such as release notes, help documentation, articles, and features.
  9. Work with internal teams and subject matter experts to produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
  10. Review, edit, and maintain documentation written by development teams for consistency in voice, tense, syntax, and grammar.
  11. Assist with updating source documentation and preparing documentation for deployment.
  12. Team members are expected to leverage their primary skill area but be open to learning and helping with other skill domains with the focus on completing the team’s work.
  13. Provide oral and written status to project lead and management.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Experience with MS Office, Word, Adobe, WebWorks ePublisher, HTML, and CSS

Excellent attention to detail.

Ability to ensure accuracy, clarity, appropriateness, and consistency of documentation for internal and external customers.

Clear, effective communication skills – Must be comfortable and willing to openly discuss work items with a cross-functional team, product owners, and subject matter experts.

Knowledge of Quality Assurance and testing best/emerging practices. Experience with web/mobile testing and/or automation is a plus.

Cross-Functional Skill Development – Quality Assurance will be the candidate’s main expertise, but analysts must be proactive about learning the skills and methods used across the various roles of the team. Ability to contribute to the teamwork to advance the highest priority work items for the team when their primary skill work is not available or needed.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Normal office environment with use of computers and telephone systems; no unusual physical demands

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in English, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, or related field or 3-5 years of QA or testing experience within an enterprise-wide environment

Minimum 2 years technical writing experience

Experience with the following tools is a plus: WebWorks ePublisher, Gherkin, Cucumber, Telerik Test Studio, and Jira.

A strong understanding of software testing practices.
