Position Overview:
Are you looking to explore a new industry within Software Development? If so, Software Developers for Nebraska Book Company (NBC) are responsible for bringing NBC's software to life through windows, web and web based services. At NBC, developers work through the Agile process in helping design the best solution for end-users and actively seek new and better ways of producing the software that fulfills vital business needs and impacts our more than 1200 customers as well as our customers’ 14.5 million guests. The development team works close with the Product Owner to ensure QA and user-acceptance testing are completed and acceptance criteria is met along with post release support.  

This is an exempt, non-supervisory position, reporting directly to the Software Development Manager.

As a Software Engineer (.NET) you will:
• Developing and testing complex Windows applications
• Working in a team-oriented environment to accomplish high-level business goals
• Contributing solutions to issues and problems across product areas
• Providing progress updates and following through on commitments to the team to meet deadlines
• Working with business users to define requirements for applications and suggest improvements
• Working with Support team members to diagnose and resolve customer inquiries
• Communicating with third parties about integration and software certification projects
• Adhering to policies regarding Development Life Cycle, IT controls, and change control for all development
• Complying with all company personnel policies and practices as well as all federal, state, and local standards/requirements
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or other related field combined with two years of software development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Exposure to Agile Methodology
• Experience with object oriented .NET (C#, ASP.NET, MVC, WCF) design and development
• Experience with Visual Studio and Resharper
• Familiarity with SOA design patterns
• Strong understanding of SQL, T-SQL, and databases
• Experience with .NET core
• Experience with Angular, Vue or other client side Javascript frameworks
• Azure experience is a plus
