SYSTEMS ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION

The Systems Engineer’s role is to help build out, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure. This position is responsible for driving to and delivering on cutting-edge technology, efficiency and improvement to our infrastructure in support of our rapidly growing organization. Be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate a high degree of technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage cloud infrastructure, including but not limited to Microsoft Azure and AWS
  • Help maintain vendor relationships and licensing needs; consideration for lifecycle management, cost containment and controls
  • Proactively manage server virtualization with VMware and Hyper-V
  • Partner with our development team on application hosting and support
  • Administer network infrastructure, including WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, etc.
  • Support services for Microsoft related technologies: Windows Server, Exchange, Sharepoint etc.
  • Manage VPN and Remote Desktop Services
  • Monitor the remote monitoring and management system alerts and notifications
  • Administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system: update agent scripts, respond to alerts, monitor dashboard, and periodic system review
  • Build, monitor and support disaster recovery solutions
  • Document maintenance for all computer systems and network infrastructure
  • Communication with users as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
  • Maintain proactive work each month to keep systems updated including patching and upgrades
  • Troubleshoot issues with the internal systems and network infrastructure
  • Proactive issue identification and planning
  • Work with our team on system lifecycle planning and other DevOps workflows and automation

  • Occasional travel required

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

2 + YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING:

  • Windows server administration
  • VMWare or Hyper-V Virtual Infrastructure
  • SAN storage technologies

BASIC PROFICIENCY IN:

  • Microsoft Azure Cloud Services
  • MS Windows Desktop
  • Microsoft SCCM
  • Network infrastructure
  • Office 365 Administration
  • Microsoft Active Directory and GPO
  • DNS/DHCP
  • Veeam Backup and Recovery
  • Mobile Devices
  • Microsoft Office
  • Wireless Solutions
  • Verbal and Written Communication
