The Business Systems Advisor oversees and consults with senior management on large, mission critical projects at the enterprise/operation level including defining scope and objectives, identifying risks and critical success factors, developing business cases, approving work plans and resources and monitoring progress and outcomes. Analyzes the company's systems needs, recommending solutions that best meet the strategic and technical requirements of the company in order to enhance competitiveness in the marketplace. Reviews applications, network, or systems architecture plans for strategic projects for applicability to business requirements.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Consults with senior management and analyzes the company's systems needs, recommending solutions that best meet the strategic and technical requirements of the company to enhance competitiveness in the marketplace. Maintains broad knowledge of multiple customers' functional business environments and assists and/or leads business area management in process change.
  • Assists in developing business operational models and defining business requirements that require system support. Develops conceptual and process model designs and system solutions to satisfy business requirements.
  • Develop business architecture models that represent capabilities, stakeholders, data and processes associated with a business system.
  • Prepares detailed, comprehensive responses to vendor requests for technical information as applied to existing or pending business cases. Serve on contract negotiation teams as needed.
  • Lead the awareness and education of Business Architecture practices and techniques in the organization through both small and large group presentations.
  • Consults with senior management and analyzes the company's systems needs, recommending solutions that best meet the strategic and technical requirements of the company to enhance competitiveness in the marketplace. Maintains broad knowledge of multiple customers' functional business environments and assists and/or leads business area management in process change.
  • Assists in developing business operational models and defining business requirements that require system support. Develops conceptual and process model designs and system solutions to satisfy business requirements. Develops technical designs that meet business requirements and are efficient and effective in relationship to operational costs, usability and maintainability. Negotiates with and influences stakeholders at all levels, across the organization and externally. Works in a manner that results in customer satisfaction with the product. Serves on boards and committees as requested.
  • Studies existing information systems to evaluate effectiveness and develops new systems to improve production or workflow. Conducts studies pertaining to development of new systems to meet current and projected needs. Identifies, defines and documents business problems and opportunities. Consults proactively with business area management to provide appropriate information solutions and process improvements.
  • Courses, opportunities, and experiences related to the Business aspects of the position. Completion of customer specific business courses as determined by management.
  • This position requires sitting over 66% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent project management skills in a matrix environment including effective leverage of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills, and ability to interact with associates at all levels of the organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of analysis and design of technology solutions and the relationships between multiple systems/support processes.
  • Ability to develop, evaluate and present multiple solution approaches to meet business requirements and strategies.
  • Ability to design functional and technical and business process work flows consistent with conceptual needs of assigned customer groups.
  • Proven skill in designing high-level solutions, providing technical and logical support, and defining modules and/or process components determined to be needed or modified.
  • Ability to develop and maintain business partnerships with customers and suppliers at all levels, including resolving conflicts, anticipating customer needs, and prioritizing schedules from multiple customers or suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of contemporary technologies relating to business, market and industry trends. Ability to apply such knowledge to support the critical systems needed.
  • Comprehensive awareness of various hardware and software solutions and relationships between systems, subsystems and products.
  • Ability to assimilate, interpret and draw conclusions from an extensive variety of technical and business data with multiple abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proven leadership abilities and tangible success implementing strategic business initiatives.
