Intern - Infrastructure Integrity

General Position Responsibilities:
Under direct supervision, provides daily project support to the Infrastructure Integrity Division, which includes field work, GIS data entry, scanning, and filing of documents. Accuracy and attention to detail are critical skills and must be a part of daily activities.


Minimum Requirements:
1. Completed a minimum of one (1) year of college level coursework, preferably in engineering, geography or a closely related or technical field of study. If a recent graduate, must be pursuing post graduate hours.
2. Previous experience with ESRI GIS software is preferred.
3. An interest in soil testing, pipeline corrosion, and field work is essential.
4. Excellent personal computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Aptitude and willingness to work with new software is a must. Experience with CAD is helpful.
5. Exceptional organizational skills including ability to prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, and adapt quickly to changing work demands and interruptions.
6. Must exhibit good analytical ability.
7. Ability to work independently on a consistent basis is preferred.
8. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with management, co-workers, and other personnel.
9. Must maintain at all times, in person or on the telephone, a professional and congenial disposition regardless of provocation.


Specific Responsibilities:
1. Populate key fields in GIS for corrosion protection insulators.
2. Assist the Corrosion Engineer with quality checks on new water leak records.
3. Assist the Corrosion Technician with various field work tasks.
4. Assist with transfer of documents to permanent electronic storage.
5. Assist with miscellaneous special projects as needed.
6. Understand and comply with all pertinent District policies and procedures.
