As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, all roles, including new hires, will continue to train and work from home while social distancing measures are in place.

This is a Non-Employee Contractual Worker or Temporary Worker providing services for TD Ameritrade. This Non-Employee role will be employed by TD Ameritrade’s preferred 3rd Party Supplier only.

The anticipated, but not guaranteed, term of this engagement will be 12 months. This term could be extended based on company business needs or terminated at any time.

**Please Note: Candidate selected will be required to be on call 24/7 once every 3-4 weeks.

The Applications Support  Engineer will primarily be responsible for maintaining and supporting the TD Ameritrade production applications environment.  Some of these environments include Retail Trading, Active Trader, and internal client facing systems.  Some responsibilities include responding to alerts and escalations, managing Incident Tracking Queue, technical documentation, and independently supporting/configuring complex systems. These responsibilities will expose the Contractor to a greater support role and a larger impact on the direction and success of their systems.


Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring TDAmeritrade applications and system health via external and internal tools and provide quick response to alerts, escalations, and all production incidents.
  • Engage fellow engineers to share best practices, lessons learned, or other technical findings of interest to the engineering team
  • Perform Application installs and create automation methods to improve our Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) using  Blue/Green and Canary Deployments methods
  • Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems
  • Take ownership of operational issues and perform both short-term resolutions, and develop preventive measures for the longer term while maintaining a Tech backlog

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of experience in a technical environment
  • Experience in Linux (3+ years)
  • Working knowledge in scripting language (bash, python, or comparable)
  • Experience using AppDynamics, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, & Elastic Stack/ELK
  • Experience with Atlassian Tool Stack (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) and it role in Agile development methodologies
  • Working knowledge with Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and container technologies such as Docker, Openshift, Kubernetes
  • Ability to work well under pressure in production support situations with limited supervision
  • Strong learning curiosity and problem solving skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work rotating on call shifts that may include nights and weekend shifts
  • Bachelor’s degree
