Core Responsibilities:

  • Plans and facilitates all scrum ceremonies and activities including: backlog preparation, sprint planning, release planning, retrospectives, sprint reviews/ demonstrations and daily stand-ups
  • Supports the Agile transformation by assisting with agile training, coaching and promoting accountability and transparency across all levels of the organization
  • Displays scrum board and burndown chart at every scrum/ daily standup to ensure that the team stays focused on meeting sprint commitments 
  • Displays a servant leadership demeanor and ensures the team works at a sustainable pace that is productive and accountable for meeting sprint commitments
  • Works with the product owner and team to ensure story and task estimates and scrum boards are kept up to date
  • Helps the team learn to identify dependencies, skill/knowledge gaps, and other obstacles in their work
  • Works with teams to identify, assign, and manage risk, dependency & issue mitigation action items
  • Assists with quarterly planning including the preparation of release plans including scope, schedule/milestones, and effort as well as creating and updating project dependency charts
  • Works with product owners, agile teams, and stakeholders to ensure the product and sprint backlogs are prioritized and that transparency is maintained
  • Coordinates with other scrum masters and agile teams, as necessary
  • Helps define Agile Center of Excellence processes

 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or business administration and/or equivalent formal training or work experience
  • Self-directed, self-motivated and a thirst for knowledge and a passion for learning; ability to take ownership of work and demonstrate initiative is critical
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with minimal direction and guidance
  • Desire for continuous improvement both personally, professionally, and as a valued member of the team
  • Strong organizational skills and a willingness to adapt to different tools or processes as the situation requires, and to suggest improvements or alternatives when warranted
  • 5 or more years of experience serving as a scrum master for an agile delivery team; prior experience as scrum master, project manager, technical manager or supervisor is required
  • First level Scrum Master Certification (CSM, PSM I, SSM) required
  • Knowledge of scrum methodologies and Agile practices
  • Must have solid understanding of Agile methods, Lean thinking, and Scrum methodology.
  • Proficient understanding of all software lifecycle development disciplines - Project Management, Requirements Management, Analysis & Design, Quality Assurance & Testing, Implementation, Deployment, Configuration & Change Management
  • Able to guide the team and organization effectively on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight customers
  • Able to effectively coach the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable; assist in removing barriers for the team
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including organizational, team building, and issue resolution; works effectively with colleagues at all levels
  • Good listener and open to different points of view; flexible and adaptable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient presentation and facilitation skills
  • Strong experience working with business end users and stakeholders at all levels in the organization
  • Knowledge of industry standard software best practices, development lifecycle processes and methodologies
  • Assertive and able to get the job done effectively and efficiently
  • Able to be a successful Change Agent and a Servant Leader
