The Spreetail Supply Chain team is seeking a Sr Data Scientist with strong analytical and communication skills to join our team. The Supply Chain Team manages a large portfolio of internal and contract manufactured product and is responsible for supporting a wide variety of initiatives that cross business teams and operations groups within Spreetail. This role will work closely with Head of Demand Planning to help forecast the demand of tens of thousands of products.

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will:

    • Translate Demand Forecasting business questions and concerns into specific analytical questions that can be answered with available data using statistical and machine learning methods; working with engineers to produce the required data when it is not available
    • Provide feedback to our software engineering teams on the applicability of technical solutions from the business perspective
    • Present critical data in a format that is immediately useful to answer questions about the inputs and outputs of Demand Forecasting systems and improving their performance
    • Communicate verbally and in writing to business customers with various levels of technical knowledge, educating them about our systems, as well as sharing insights and recommendations
    • Improve upon existing Demand Forecasting statistical or machine learning methodologies by developing new data sources, testing model enhancements, running computational experiments, and fine-tuning model parameters for new forecasting models
    • Support decision making by providing requirements to develop analytic capabilities, platforms, pipelines and metrics then using them to analyze trends and find root causes of forecast inaccuracy
    • Formalize assumptions about how demand forecasts are expected to behave, creating definitions of outliers, developing methods to systematically identify these outliers, and explaining why they are reasonable or identifying fixes for them
    • Utilize code (Python, R, Scala, etc.) for analyzing data and building statistical and machine learning models and algorithms

Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Analytics, Supply Chain, Data Science, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, or related discipline with excellent academic record.
    • Extensive statistical software programming abilities
    • Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
    • Ability to develop data models to support advanced/predictive analytics
    • Must be Business-Centric, Data-Oriented, Analytically Minded and Results Driven
    • Strong critical thinking skills to scope and frame problems
    • Displays judgment to propose effective, business driven solutions
