Position Description

What does a great Software Development Engineer do?

As a Software Development Engineer, you can look forward to serving as a technical leader in the Software Engineering Department and play a key role in developing industry leading software for our customers. In this role you will be responsible for defining, developing, and testing complex technical and architectural solutions that support Bank Solutions product strategies and address the market needs of Fiserv clients and their customers. You will have the opportunity to apply your existing knowledge to tackle new market problems on almost a daily basis.

Basic Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Minimum years 2+ years of development experience required
  • Experience with Progress OpenEdge, Java, C/C++, or .NET developer
  • Experience with relational databases
  • Willing to work as part of an agile development team in which close collaboration is required
  • High school diploma required

Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or an Associate’s degree in Computer Programming, or equivalent education in a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience with Progress OpenEdge ABL
  • Experience with object-oriented programming
  • Knowledge of technologies and development patterns such as but not limited to:
  • Microsoft technologies (e.g. C#, PowerShell, MS SQL Server)
  • Web Services
  • REST Services
  • 3-tier architectures
  • Unix shell scripting
  • MS Windows installation packages
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery
  • Experience with Test Driven Development, process automation, or automated testing
  • Strong Verbal and Written Communication and Interpersonal Skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, good communication skills, and a motivation to achieve best-in-class results
  • Good knowledge about object-oriented software design, data modelling, and design patterns
  • Strong in resolving architectural problems including scalability, performance, reliability, usability & security
  • Experience with banking and teller systems

Travel required:

The position is based out of Lincoln, NE or Sioux Falls, SD. The travel requirements will be minimal. However, there may be business needs for travel (to client locations and other Fiserv locations) and hence some flexibility is expected.
