Summary:

The Product Analyst Senior performs various duties in support of the product management team, including coordinating with resources through the stages of the product life cycle, and managing projects that are vital and more advanced in scope. The Product Analyst Senior also works closely with CSG’s agile development teams to create, update and publish product documentation for CSG products. The incumbent also works with the documentation group’s community of practice to ensure consistency in style, format, and presentation across all product lines. The incumbent furthers the reach of product management leadership by assisting with product initiatives, as needed.

Position Details:

The position is two-fold:  A writer, editor, and publisher of product documentation, event planning, instructional design, and more.  A product analyst with responsibilities assigned by product management leadership, including but not limited to project management, requirements gathering and concept definition and development, communication strategies, and brainstorming product enhancements. 

Responsibilities:

Incumbent is accountable for professional working behavior to include building and maintaining constructive working relationships, implementing proactive and concise communication, acting as a resource to colleagues, and engaging in collaborative thinking and problem solving while demonstrating CSG’s core competencies and values. The incumbent performs various duties in support of the product management team, including managing projects from conception, definition, development, release, and post release for products and features. Working with CSG agile development teams, the incumbent creates and publishes client-facing content that explains the enhancements those teams produced. Think of the work as translating technical language offered by the technical team to plain English to be presented to clients.

  • For example, deliverables can include enhancement overviews and updates, user guides, job aids, training videos, and more.
  • The incumbent also may develop content based on existing documentation of a third-party vendor or reformat and publish documentation for a new product added to the CSG portfolio through an acquisition.

Incumbent participates in a community of practice with other product documentation writers to help ensure consistency of voice throughout the CSG library of user documentation and guides. As part of the community, the incumbent assists with maintaining and updating the shared user guide. The community also provides coverage, when possible, to ensure continuity of service during vacations, leaves of absence, and so on. Incumbent serves as mentor to other writers and assists with editing, as needed.

Requirements:

The position requires the following:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to capture, define, and manage business, functional, and technical requirements working closely with product management, engineering, and customer stakeholders
  • Ability to manage product and feature requests through Agile software development lifecycles
  • Ability to lead projects from concept, through definition and development, to release and postrelease.
  • Ability to write clearly, concisely, in the active voice, and follow the CSG documentation style guide.
  • Ability to research using a variety of methods, such as reviewing documents created by the agile teams, existing product documentation, online resources to familiarize yourself with computer language. In addition, attending enhancement review discussions, demos, standup meetings, and one-on-one discussions with product experts.
  • Ability to learn and use publishing software.
  • Ability to manage competing demands, plan ahead, and prioritize effectively, Promote positive teamwork and participate in documentation improvement initiatives that might involve updating the template, style guide, processes, and more.

Helpful Experience:

  • Knowledge of Flare, Snagit, Microsoft Suite, JIRA, Confluence, Camtasia, Articulate, any version control software.
  • Background in computer software.
  • Familiarity with SAFe and agile methodologies and practices.
  • Video recording and editing.
