The Branded Experience Risk – Risk Analyst I is within PayPal Global Fraud Risk. PayPal's Risk Department is responsible for partnering with global business units to manage a variety of risk types including identity fraud, account take over and credit issues. This is an exciting department where the contributions by the team members can really help PayPal's bottom line and create experiences that our customers love. We empower our teams to solve hard problems – customer problems and risk problems – in ways that our customers love, yet work for our risk business. We staff our teams with the skills necessary to come up with effective solutions that are valuable (the solution stops fraudsters and is also customer friendly), viable (the solution works within the many constraints of business), and feasible (our teams have the skills and technology to implement). The Risk Analyst need to be a highly motivated team player with self-learning ability who focus on creating, driving and executing initiatives to mitigate fraud patterns while improving customer experience.

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Proficiency to complete assignment with multiple steps, guided by defined processes and project requirements.
  • Focuses primarily on completing short-term goals of a project efficiently and effectively. 
  • Own/Co-own Risk KPIs and deliver decision strategies
    • Understand the business goals and how they can influence rules.
    • Become familiar with PayPal major products, flows and risk related actions.

Functional Skills:

  • Basic capability to create/revamp innovative and technical solutions that require the processing of large datasets across different platforms. Collaborate with other analysts and teammates to achieve the optimal level of automation decisioning and minimize human intervention.
  • Basic statistical skills, ability to forecast real-world performance based on samples, simulations and user behavior analytics. 
  • Basic skills in rule writing systems, development, and implementation of simple solutions by coding action rules and decision tables using BAL (Business Action Language), variables creation, RADD files design, regular expression proficiency.
  • Basic technical / data mining skills and ability to work with large volumes of data; extract and manipulate large datasets using tools such as SQL and SAS to translate data into business decisions/results.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication to peers, partners, and management level.

Business Acumen:

  • Familiar with PayPal’s major products, flows and risk-related actions.
  • Basic understanding of PayPal’s business goals and how they can influence them in their role.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent professional work related experience with 1+ years of experience or
  • 2+ years of experience in PayPal or similar Risk/Consumer-behavior companies.
