Desktop Support Technician

Installs, configures, maintains and troubleshoots desktop and application delivery technologies and systems. Provides advanced analysis and resolution of technical and process issues/problems related to technologies and sub-systems, which support the environment.


Technical Skills

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop and application delivery technologies and sub-systems which support the application and desktop delivery environments.
  • Responsible for complying with all Company Information Services policies and standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate security and privacy measures are implemented on technology solutions to protect Company data from intentional or accidental misuse.
  • Provide analysis and resolution of technical and process issues/problems related to the technologies and systems which support the environment.

Soft Skills

  • Act as liaison with business units to understand needs and deliver solutions.
  • Perform requirements gathering to ensure appropriate technology is deployed for the customer.
  • Follow detailed tasks, procedures, and processes associated with the installation of microcomputer based hardware and software components, utilizing process modeling tools and techniques.
  • Participate in projects as the technical representative, as needed.
  • Assist in evaluating vendor supplied hardware/software and assists in making recommendations to IT management.
  • Adhere to Change Management, Incident Management, Configuration Management policies and procedures.

Individuals in this position have advanced technical skills within a single domain of knowledge and some breadth of knowledge across domains. Complex systems activities are typically performed independently within a single domain, but are occasionally inter-domain. The Support Technician level has variable essential functions, qualifications and physical requirements. Competency and skill set will determine level of placement within the posted job family.


  • Vast knowledge of technology products or a technology platform to provide expert troubleshooting and advice.
  • Knowledge of a variety of relevant technology tools sufficient to assess relevancy and cost-effectiveness for a particular need in order to combine tools effectively.
  • An understanding of operational and tactical planning in order to use Division, Area, and Team goals and objectives to prioritize work and guide actions.
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies and approaches.
  • Advanced understanding of downstream effects as a result of consultation with customers and the methodologies used to apply or implement technology.
  • Advanced skill in developing and delivering instruction.
  • Advanced skill in identifying and resolving problems with computer hardware and software.
  • Skilled in using application software to develop custom products.
  • Advanced skill in communicating with and serving customers in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams.
  • Ability to obtain agreement or consensus from multiple parties; earns trust and seek win-win solutions.
  • Ability to ensure appropriate security and privacy measures are implemented on technology solutions in order to protect Company data from intentional or accidental misuse.
  • Knowledge of desktop and application delivery systems and sub-systems.
  • Strong ability to work and/or troubleshoot problems remotely
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and/or 3-5 years equivalent experience in IT systems/support engineering.

  • Requires advanced level technical understanding of hardware and software with a focus on analysis, development, modification, installation, testing, and maintenance.
  • Experience using application delivery systems such as SCCM of JAMF.
  • Knowledge of Window 10 or MacOS operating systems.

  • Pay Range: $50,000 - $70,000
  • Pay commensurate with experience.
