$110,577.00-$176,924.00

Summary:

The Data Privacy Counsel Sr will support the Chief Counsel, Global Privacy with interpreting and advising on global data privacy laws and regulations that apply to CSG’s internal and customer-facing operations. The primary responsibilities include (1) working with and supporting internal clients to structure, draft and negotiate data protection and privacy terms in client and vendor agreements in multiple jurisdictions and countries in a form that meets CSG’s business objectives and reasonably manages risk (2) providing general legal advice to CSG clients on global data protection and privacy matters; and (3) assisting the Chief Counsel, Global Privacy with monitoring and advising the company, at all levels of the organization on all issues related to the protection of personal data under applicable data protection laws, including, by way of example, the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).  Provide legal support and advice in the continued development and maintenance of CSG’s global privacy program which includes, but is not limited policy review, procedures and applicable notices.   The position will also support certain functional legal matters, as assigned by the Associate General Counsel.

Position Details:

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of data protection and privacy-related agreements, including business associate agreements, EU standard contractual clauses, and EU data processor terms. 

  • Provide general legal advice to CSG clients on day-to-day data protection and privacy matters.

  • Monitor and ensure legal compliance with CSG’s standards and applicable data protection and privacy regulatory requirements.

  • Identify and manage risks and propose solutions to mitigate risks with respect to transactions, contracts, operations and litigation.

Education

  • J.D. from accredited law school. 

  • Licensed / qualified to practice law in the United States.

Experience

  • At least 3-5 years of transaction-based legal experience at a law firm and in-house legal. department,  with a focus on technology transactions and data privacy.

  • Experience drafting and negotiating data protection and privacy-related agreements and business associate agreements.

  • Prior experience with US and international data privacy and data security issues.

  • Strong analytic capabilities and written and oral communication skills.

  • Advanced competency in structuring complex technology relationships and agreements with attention to detail and strong drafting skills a must.

  • Effective negotiator with strong business acumen and ability to serve as a business advisor.

  • Ability to work across multiple product offerings and advise in data protection and privacy regulatory and compliance matters.


Preferred Experience

  • Prior practice focus and/or in-house experience in communications (telecom, cable, messaging, etc.), broadcast or media vertical.

  • Prior experience with Software as a Service (SaaS), managed services and software license delivery models.

  • Prior experience with cloud-based contracting and regulatory issues and outsourcing transactions.

Travel

This job requires domestic and/or international travel up to 10%
