Job Technical Skills – Assists with operating and monitoring electric power plant generation equipment, thermal plant equipment and their associated auxiliaries at the machine level. Assists with plant preventive and corrective maintenance. Work is subject to direct supervision during progress and upon completion by a supervisor for compliance with instructions. Required to work a variety of rotating schedules according to business needs. Required to perform emergency and overtime work relating to plant operations or maintenance including short-notice and odd hours. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

  • Assists in the sequenced startup, shutdowns and loading of the power & thermal plant equipment daily in order to meet LES dispatch requirements.
  • Records key operational parameters for generation and thermal plant equipment and enters the information into the plant database record, maintaining accurate log readings of local plant indicators inspected by a senior employee.
  • Under direct supervision, assists with completing routine boiler water system tests and chemical adjustments based on established procedures.
  • Assists with monitoring cooling tower operation and associated water chemistry testing/adjustments.
  • Under direct supervision, monitors and inspects visually, audibly and via local instrumentation, all primary and auxiliary systems for assigned locations.
