CORE COMPETENCIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

Job Technical Skills – Responsible for performing the full range of financial/general ledger accounting functions described in the essential duties and responsibilities, including District Energy Corporation (DEC) and Nebraska Utility Corporation (NUCorp). Leads small to medium projects with minimal guidance. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

  • Prepares, reviews, analyzes and distributes financial reports including monthly, semiannual and annual financial and operating statements.
  • Prepares and enters journal entries to properly record all transactions.
  • Maintains accounting records related to fixed assets.
  • Reconciles accounts and prepares related accounting schedules and reports.
  • Interfaces with the external auditors including audit work paper preparation.
  • Manages financial data including FERC accounts in SAP.
  • Serves as department liaison and resolves problems for internal customers, external entities, governmental agencies, internal/external auditors and vendors.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, and
  • Two years of general accounting experience, or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
