This position is responsible for the strategic architectural direction for BCBSNE data and systems through leading the architecture groups within the company. This will involve leading/mentoring other technical leaders within the organization (i.e. solution architects and technical leaders on teams). This role will require strong relationships with business leaders and technical leaders across the company.

What you'll do:

  • Assess the technology capabilities needed by the business and the ability of teams to deliver rapid data and technology solutions that effectively meet business needs. Develop and maintaining multi-horizon roadmaps
  • Assist development teams to drive solutions that balance technology direction with cost and strategies employed
  • Lead and direct the architectural communities and engineering practices to ensure cost effective, stable, secure, and maintainable systems.
  • Advise on budgets to ensuring optimal spending on the technology used by the company. Where appropriate, manage budgets to ensure desired outcomes.
  • Provide oversight, as needed, for key enterprise initiatives to ensure alignment with technology strategy.
  • Maintain relationships with enterprise committees (i.e. governance, strategic, innovation, architecture communities) to ensure consistency of practices and processes within the organization.
  • Work with key customers of BCBSNE (e.g. employers, members, providers, brokers) to understand the impediments of using our technology and build plans to provide better integration of our business models.
  • Engage with BCBSA, other partners to ensure our needs as a plan are understood and considered within their future roadmaps.
  • As part of the IS leadership team, seek and provide guidance to the IS management team, so they can recruit and retain talent to effectively deliver rapid cloud-based technology solutions using agile practices.
  • Continuously learn and improve the department culture and self by seeking 360-degree feedback.
  • Maintain a culture of technical curiosity that includes keeping abreast of current and future trends in both the technology and healthcare industries

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in CIS or MIS or related field and 10 years’ architecture experience for a medium to large sized company
  • 5 years experience managing a team
  • 2+ years’ experience in cloud data/analytics, micro-API architecture for faster insights and rapid integrations
  • 2+ years’ experience in streaming/event-based systems design using kafka or Azure Eventhub

 

The strongest candidates for this position will also possess:

Master’s Degree is desired in CIS or MIS or related field

2-3+ years of experience in health insurance IT

2-3 years of experience in Microsoft Azure

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.

The ability to meet or exceed the attendance and timeliness requirements of their departments. On-call work may be required based on business needs and role assignment.

The ability to work well in a team environment, and be capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with other staff, departments, and customers.
