Job Purpose

If you are looking for a place where you can make a difference in the life of a child, Project Harmony is looking for you.  We are seeking an experienced and committed Social Media Specialist to join our dynamic and innovative organization.

Project Harmony is seeking a Social Media Specialist to join our dynamic and innovative organization. This person will collaborate with the Sr. Director to manage all social media platforms and execute digital strategies. This is a contract position and will serve as a sounding board for ideas in addition to ensuring brand consistency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create a content schedule using ongoing message opportunities and special projects, campaigns and/or events.
  • Develop content based on content schedule and identify additional (non-Project Harmony generated) content to share via our current social.
  • Implement/schedule content across all channels (on average two posts per week per channel). Current social media channels include – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, 2 Instagram channels (Project Harmony & Project Harmony Paws) Pinterest and YouTube.
  • Monitor Project Harmony social media profiles and major review sites on an ongoing basis and provide responses as needed.
  • Update Google Ad Words program on an as needed basis.
  • Develop engagement opportunities for Project Harmony across social media channels.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports and analytics.

Education and Training

BS/BA in marketing, communications, advertising or related field; 5-7 years of marketing and social media experience; technical experience working in website, blogging and email content management systems.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience creating graphics and short videos for use online
  • Working knowledge of WordPress, or other website content management software.
  • Photography experience preferred
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
  • Advanced understanding and experience running campaigns across key platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, and YouTube.
  • Experience in emerging social platforms a plus
  • Ability to analyze social campaigns and creative performance data in order to improve KPIs
  • Ability to provide creative insights and recommendations based on performance data
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and active listening).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptionally strong work ethic, adapting to ever-changing demands, with ability to refocus and develop options for quick changes in projects.
  • Outstanding collaboration skills with a proven ability to work cross-functionally in order to establish and meet shared organizational goals
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • High level of creativity, initiative and energy.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong knowledge and use of all Microsoft Office Products as well as other software, hardware, databases, etc.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, confidence and ethical standards.
  • Must respect and maintain confidentiality.


  • Work hours will be variable and may include weekends. (approximately 16-20 hours per week)
  • Must submit to a thorough criminal history background check.
  • Must have access to a vehicle, possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
