We are seeking a Compliance data analyst with a passion for the payment industry to provide end to end support in the implementation of machine learning models within our compliance program at PayPal. This person will be working closely with our data science and technology partners as well the Sanctions Policy team to insure proper integration of models and controls.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Quickly gain an understanding of the current state of the compliance program
  • Plan, design, develop and implement strategy and vision for the assigned areas of responsibility
  • Prepare essential documentation to define requirements, test plans, analysis
  • Assist data science team with data exploration, quality, and validation for model development. Also provide all needed support post-implementation and model monitoring
  • Create Jupyter Notebooks or Tableau dashboards to monitor model performance
  • Work with technology partners to integrate machine learning models into PayPal’s compliance technology framework
  • Advocate for sustainable and smart implementations on behalf of our team
  • Comply, review, and implement Company’s policies and procedures
  • Extensive data analysis on daily basis

Job Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience with data analysis
  • Experience with SQL scripting such as Oracle or MS SQL
  • Working knowledge of Python with prior experience using Jupyter Notebook
  • Tableau experience is not required but is a plus
  • AML/Sanctions/BSA experience is a plus
  • Prior experience supporting data science teams is preferred
  • Experience in working within regulatory frameworks and compliance preferred


  • Strong interest and aptitude in defining business requirements for model development
  • Naturally curious, with a knack for problem-solving and a demonstrated ability to turn observed data into a story of what behavior is driving that data.
  • Ability to independently manage, organize and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and responsibilities
  • Ability to rapidly learn new concepts (technical, risk, business) a critical success factor in this role
  • Well-developed research and analytical skills with good problem solving and lateral thinking ability
  • Experience collaboratively working with colleagues in other countries and time zones preferred
